Finishing our work in January (Focus: deep stretches for more flexibility and wellbeing) where we learned how to effectively stretch and loosen tight areas in our physical bodies from a postural and anatomical standpoint, this weekend we will explore the deeper emotional and mental layers which influence the way we perceive and feel our physical body.

Thinking that just physically stretching alone will get you to more well-being is a myth. So why not dig a little deeper and identify patterns to counteract the pain so many of us feel in our body.

You will learn:

  • yoga breathing techniques to help identify tension in the body
  • how to stretch and move your body without tightening those areas up even more
  • why your attitude towards stretching matters more than you think
  • how to use accessories like swiss balls, belts and bolsters effectively at home to counter some of our misaligned movement patters in daily life.

This workshop is an ideal start for yoga newbies on their yoga journey as well as experienced yoginis to balance their home practice.

Join us and learn to identify and change emotional and mental patterns to help feel more wellbeing in our physical bodies.

From this year on we are offering a monthly teaching focus for all classes, which means every month the content for all the yoga offerings (regular weekly classes as well as specialty workshops) will be announced at the beginning of each month and you can get a deeper experience with this part of yoga for the entire month.

Super Stretches : How to incorporate safely deep stretches for the hip and shoulder girdle to enhance our Asana practice by creating more ease in movement during our practice.

One of the main reasons why people get curious about Yoga is, that they feel stiff and movement has become cumbersome and sometimes painful. As a result we feel old and get tired quickly and vitality and joyful energy is lost for every day movement.

This month I have taught new techniques using a wide variety of yoga accessories to enhance your stretching experience in our posture focus and flow classes.

However, stretching is an art that needs first and foremost understanding of your own body and “feeling” the right or wrong way of stretching. My experience is, that most people use a wrong stretching regiment, so no longterm change is achieved and most likely you will get hurt along the way – sooner or later -, even and especially in yoga class.

We cannot learn this from reading articles about it online or copying a video at home with a teacher, who cannot connect with you.

So this Saturday I am offering a specialty workshop

SUPER STRETCHES with 60 minute Q & A with Emme

for practicing and reviewing the techniques I have taught the past 3 weeks and an hour long Q & A for all your burning questions that must have arisen in all of you while practicing your stretches.

Take the opportunity to ask those personal questions that concern your own practice and experience and get the answers which will enlighten your pathway to your very own individual yoga practice.

Examples:

  • I do not feel a stretch here, why?
  • How do I know if I am stretching wrong?
  • This stretch I cannot attempt at all, what do I need to prepare in my body to even get there?
  • Why can’t I reach with my arms behind my back?
  • I have been stretching at home, but see very little results, what am I doing wrong?
  • How does my own personal anatomy play into my stretching experience…

Normally I only offer this work in my private sessions, which is the reason, why the private work is so much more efficient.

60min with Emme – up close and personal – let’s get into the nitty gritty of your own yoga practice.

I thought this would also be a beautiful experience for all my serious Yoginis, who want to get a more personal take on the teachings they receive in group class. And additionally you will learn from the questions of others.

Certainly all of our newbies are invited too, you will learn tons of new things about stretching, that you never knew…

I will be looking forward to this specialty workshop all around super stretches and their techniques, practice and all the lightbulbs which will go off in each and every one of you.

Capture the energy of Nature with our January workshop Yoga with Essential Oils.

Essential Oils are nature’s most powerful and balanced plant medicine. Adding them into our yoga practice enhances our ability to tune into our body.

Make room for new creative energy and mindfully nourish your body, mind and spirit in this 2 hour workshop. You will feel rejuvenated from the inside out as the oils assist us to let go and create anew for this month.

Our focus in January will be VISION

How to align your life with your goals? What is your vision? This workshop invites one to practice with curiosity, while seeking more clarity about where they are and where they want to be.

It will consist of 3 core elements:

  • a very brief introduction into the world of essential oils for everybody who has not been introduced to the power of essential oils yet
  • a simple yoga sequence for all levels introducing how to use essential oils during our yoga practice focusing on active twists and gentle inversions
  • a guided mindfulness meditation at the end of our workshop by Emme whose focus is to help her students find their greatest potential and invite peacefulness and balance into our busy lives.

Yoga newbies are very welcome in this all levels yoga workshop and we are looking forward to having you feel rejuvenated, energized, uplifted and balanced after this special experience.

We will be using essential oils aromatically to enhance our meditative practice as well as diluted on our hands, feet and other parts of our bodies during asana practice.

What is Spring Equinox?Spring Equinox is celebrated as the first day of Spring when day and night are equal in both Hemispheres. In Yoga we often refer to this special energetic time as the “festival of balance and potential”.

All of nature is now stirring and awakening from the winter sleep through its first signs of activity. Buds are bursting on the trees, Spring flowers are blooming and seeds are germinating./p>

The power of the sun is increasing daily, the days are getting longer, the nights are getting shorter. We begin to feel this energy and be empowered to reach out for what we want, take risks, stride out on our own, spend time outdoors and connect to the Earth again.

We can use the potential and fertility of this time to create opportunities for positive change in our lives and in the world. At this point we are poised between opposite forces, light and dark, receptive and active, unconscious and conscious, inner and outer. These can be united within us so that we are whole and balanced individuals. This gives birth to actions that come from the heart.

In the past the fertile Earth goddess Eostre was honored at this time in celebration of new life and gestation. Dragon processions celebrated the emerging active energy of the earth and eggs were used as a potent symbol of new life and rebirth.
