Teachers

Sabrina, RYT 200

Sabrina, a high school teacher, began practicing yoga seven years ago as a way to help alleviate stress. As her yoga practice grew, she found that she received so much more than relaxation and stress relief. “Yoga not only settles my mind and strengthens my body, it helps me have a more positive view of life, develop patience and enhance my relationships with family, co-workers, friends and my students. I couldn’t wait to become a yoga teacher and share its benefits with others.” A 2014 graduate of Emme Yoga, Sabrina brings her experience as a science teacher into her classes by using her knowledge of anatomy and the human body to help guide her student’s in developing their own body awareness as they practice in a class where the body, mind and spirit dance together.

Pam, RYT 200

Pam is an excited new grandmother who found yoga seven years ago as she was retiring from her teaching career. Pam began a daily practice soon after and loved the way yoga not only made her physically stronger but also how fantastic it made her feel. “Someone referred to yoga as receiving a massage from the inside out, and that is exactly how I feel after I practice. I want to share this wonderful experience with others.” She attended Emme Yoga training in 2014 as a way to both deepen her own practice and learn to teach yoga. Pam brings a kind and generous spirit into her classes that infuse them with joy and compassion. Pam’s teaching style is uplifting, nurturing and supportive and her classes are infused with positivity.

Gwyn, RYT 200

Gwyn, a wife, mother and veterinarian, has been practicing yoga for almost 10 years. An experienced runner, health advocate and dedicated gardener, Gwyn found in yoga a way to balance her fitness and health program while cultivating the link between her mind, body and spirit. A 2014 graduate of Emme Yoga Teacher Training, Gwyn views yoga as a gift one gives yourself and wants to help her students learn to open that gift. “All of us give so much to others and practicing yoga gives us a way to nurture ourselves. Yoga helps to refill our empty cups -What a gift!” Gwyn has a refreshing teaching style as her classes are spiked with fun and down-to-earth anecdotes. With a well-grounded knowledge of the human body, Gwyn’s classes are filled with precise instructions touched with spontaneity and joy.

Susan, RYT 200

A semi-retired audiologist, Susan began practicing yoga in 2010 to seek relief from neck and back pain that was not managed by traditional methods.  As her practice developed, not only did Susan’s health improve, she discovered a newfound inner peace through the mind/body/spirit connection that yoga helped her develop. “Yoga provided me with the tools I needed to learn to know myself better and become a more peaceful and contented person. It continues to enhance my life and I want to share the benefits of this life changing practice with others.” In August 2014, Susan graduated from Emme Yoga and began her journey as a yoga instructor. With an eye for detail, Susan’s classes emphasize building physical and mental strength to deal with life’s challenges in a balanced way.

Lara, RYT 200

Lara has been practicing yoga for the past 10 years and began a dedicated daily practice in 2012. After spending many years as a corporate executive and six years as a classroom teacher, her practice at South Side Yoga inspired her to pursue a career teaching yoga. “Through yoga, I learned how to use my breath to connect my mind, body and spirit and find more joy in the present moment. Yoga teaches me not to take myself too seriously and practicing yoga helps to keep me grounded and open to the world and experiences around me.” Lara is a certified Childlight Yoga children’s yoga teacher and graduated with her 200 RYT certification through Emme Yoga in 2014. Currently she is furthering her yoga studies as she works toward her 500 RYT certification. She hopes to share the joy and fun of yoga with children and adults while adding some balance and positivity into our busy lives. Lara’s classes are focused on alignment and learning to practice with the bodies we have while not taking ourselves too seriously.
