Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 500) / Owner SSY

My road to study the human body and search for ways for better health and wellbeing started after a back injury that required surgery at the age of 20, a spark for my lifelong journey and dedication to help people enhance quality of life through taking care of their bodies.

As a logical conclusion I studied Sports Science at the Cologne Sporthochschule in Germany, with a major in Prevention and Rehabilitation of Sports Injuries. For now almost 20 years I have been a personal trainer and health coach working with many clients (among others professional athletes, TV stars, music performers and motivational coaches). The personal instruction still is my deep passion, because I believe in the individuality of each person, which requires an individual approach to reach one’s physical and mental goals.

I came to Yoga more than 13 years ago after searching for a way to encompass the “whole individual” – the body, the spirit and the mind –. On the mat I found the BALANCE to make peace with my own mind, a warm home for my spirit and an overwhelming strength for my body. This balance fascinates me still and ever since I have been studying yoga with great dedication and a fire in my heart, that keeps me wanting more and more. Very soon I had incorporated Yoga into my work with my clients achieving great success –among others- with my professional athletes discovering that Yoga enhances and balances every other sport you do.

After receiving my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification with the Yandara Yoga Institute in 2006 I registered with the American Yoga Alliance and became a member of the International Yoga Association. On the journey of deepening my studies I finished my 500 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in 2010 with Yogashiva in Zurich, Switzerland. Furthermore I am certified as a Pre-/Post Natal Yoga Teacher. I am grateful for all my teachers, who have touched me the past 10 years while traveling in Europe and the USA. My greatest teachers however are and have always been my students who fill me with inspiration and gratitude even during my most difficult moments.

My classes are based on my extensive background in anatomy, physiology and fitness training and offered from the truth of my heart, my studies and my personal struggles and insights. As a teacher, I assume the role of guide and encourage my students to cultivate a dialog with their own, inner wisdom.

South Side Yoga has been a dream in my heart for many years and my intention is to “grow” a vibrant yoga community on the South Side of Atlanta that supports a safe, nurturing environment for healing and the exploration of the self through the practice of Yoga.
