Dear Yoginis, Yogis and my TRX team,
as most of you know, we had started to repair the part of our beautiful floor which makes the studio such a special place. In the wake of this repair, we had to begin sawing parts of the floor in order to relieve the pressure that was causing the problem. This has left the studio filled with small particulates that are not healthy to breath. The floors and the dust must settle first and that cannot be done overnight. Therefore I unfortunately will have to cancel all classes on Saturday 5/24. I apologize for the inconvenience, I know you all were eager to practice before the holiday weekend. But I am on the other hand extremely grateful, that we found this solution instead of having to rip up part of our beautiful floor. So therefore I am extending enormous gratitude for this “best case scenario outcome”, that I see as a gift with incredible joy and hope that you can all share that with me, as classes will resume normally on Tuesday 5/27. I hope you might be able to join me on Sunday morning at 9:30am for my Yoga in the Park class at PANOLA MOUNTAIN STATE PARK.
With wishes for a joyful weekend of gratitude and love,
EMME

Dear Yoginis,
this week we have talked in my classes about the importance of proper hydration and specifically about ELECTROLYTES and I have promised to post the Basics about Electrolytes and why they are so important as well as recipes for making your own electrolyte drinks at home…HERE IT IS :
ELECTROLYTE 101
An electrolyte is a substance that ionizes when dissolved in suitable ionizing solvents such as water, basically contains free ions making them electrically conducive. The best known primary ions of electrolytes in physiology are sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), chloride (Cl−), hydrogen phosphate (HPO42−), and hydrogen carbonate (HCO3−). The human body requires a subtle and complex electrolyte balance between the intracellular and extracellular environment. These gradients are very important to a variety of physiological body functions including regulating the hydration of the body as well as blood PH, and are critical for nerve and mucle function. Without a delicate balance of these electrolytes we can experience muscle weakness or all over loss of energy, muscle cramps and headaches, etc.
Although you now might want to reach for the readily available “Sports Drink”, please remember that most of them (if not all) are filled to the brim with artificial ingredients (some of them carcinogenic) as well as tons of sugar (or even worse artificial sweeteners).
HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES (natural electrolyte-rich homemade drinks)
1) most basic natural electrolyte Drink
2cups of filtered water, 1cup of 100% fruit juice (e.g. apple, orange, lemon, cherry, lime or POMEGRANATE – my favorite), 1/2 of a teaspoon of sea salt
2) Coconut water
1 -2 cups of coconut water raw or blended with 1 tablespoon of Chia seeds (Superfood)
3) in a blender
2 Bananas, 3 cups of coconut water, 1 cup strawberries, 1 teaspoon of salt, juice of 1 lime, 1 cup of filtered water, 1 cup of ice
or
1 frozen Banana, 1 cup of Almond milk, 1 cup of Kale
4) for the “juice lovers”
juice 5 celery stalks, 2 apples, 1 cup of filtered water, 1 lemon
Happy experimenting…

Dear Yoginis,
we hope we all “survived” our little winter adventure over the past 2 days safely and warm, without too much inconvenience.
As most of the ice is thawing now, we decided to teach tonight’s Thursday 5:30pm class Vinyasa Flow (All Levels), but cancel the Yin Yoga class at 7pm, so we can all go back home at 7pm and be home before it starts icing back up.
I will extend the 5:30pm for a few minutes, so we will be practicing until 6:55pm.
I am looking forward to see you in class…
Namaste,
Emme

Dear Yoginis,
We hope this finds you warm and safe, patiently waiting for the weather to improve, so we can resume our daily lives…
In connecting with several with you over the past 2 days, I hope that all of you could spend some time less busy and more aware and grateful for those things that we usually take for granted…
As for resuming our classes, we will have to decide when it is safe for all of us to travel again. So we will observe how the day will develop tomorrow (Thursday 2/13) and then decide if we can meet for our night classes or not.
Please stay safe, do not be on the roads if not absolutely necessary, it is not worth it. Take this time to practice in safety at home and keep checking our schedule for updates.
Namaste,
Emme

Dear Yoginis,
I hope all of you have had a chance to enjoy the beauty and stillness of a few short days of “winter wonderland”…
I have decided that it would be smarter to cancel tonight’s yoga/TRX classes as the temperatures will stay below freezing and while the snow is melting we could be looking at a lot of ice on the roads. So please roll out your mats in the warmth and safety of your quiet space at home on time at 5:30pm, start with a 10min breathing and meditative seat and practice those asanas that we have been “collecting” for our personal practice over the past few weeks 😉
I will see you tomorrow Thursday night in our Vinyasa Flow Class and Yin Yoga afterward. I trust that we will be able to resume practice tomorrow.
Looking forward to having you back in class tomorrow.
Enjoy the snow…
Namaste,
Emme

Dear Yoginis,
just a quick note letting you know that I will start teaching again from Monday 1/13. I know we are all ready to get back into our regular practice…
Please keep boosting your immune systems and take good care of yourself, this time of the year brings a lot of viruses and infections with it and we need to be as cautious as we can.

Dear Yoginis,
I am deeply sorry, but I am still recovering from my nasty cold and do not even have my voice available this morning…I would be of no good use for anybody this morning and so I have to cancel the Friday morning 10am class as well.
I really do not want to teach sick as that is of no benefit for anybody.
I will see you again when I am able to teach…
Please keep checking the website for updates.
Namaste,
Emme

Dear Yoginis,
Due to the arctic climate and the likelihood of ice and severe wind, classes will be cancelled Monday morning 1/6/2014. I plan on teaching the evening classes, but until we get out of the arctic zone, please check in with the website and schedule to confirm class before heading over to the studio.
Stay warm and be careful on the road if you have to travel…
Namaste,
Emme
